About

MCV is a Brooklyn based architecture and design studio dedicated to creating beauty and clarity within the complexity of New York City. We see constraints as opportunities, using the challenges of the urban environment to inspire thoughtful and balanced design.

Much of our work engages with existing structures, uncovering new potential in the city’s interior and exterior spaces. Whether a renovation, enlargement, or new build, we approach each project as a creative act, a chance to reimagine how spaces can support everyday life.

MCV is licensed to practice architecture and provides services across all phases of design and construction. We are committed to building lasting, collaborative relationships defined by transparency, trust, and care.

Founder

Matthew Celmer, AIA, NCARB, is a licensed architect and the founder of MCV. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Florida Atlantic University and his Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University, where he was awarded the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize.

Before establishing MCV, Matthew worked with the renowned firms Weiss/Manfredi and SOM, gaining experience across a wide range of project types and scales. He previously taught design studios at Syracuse University and New York City College of Technology.

Matthew’s work is grounded in a love of floor plans, detailing, and the expressive use of materials. He thrives on working with real budgets, collaborating directly with clients, and bringing clarity to the complexities of New York City architecture. His practice spans renovations, enlargements, ground-up projects, and landscape design, always with a focus on creating beautiful, livable spaces.

Approachable and collaborative, Matthew enjoys construction site visits as much as sketching concepts, and finds inspiration in form, context, and the oddities that give each project its unique character.
